16/07/2019 - Fedsas
FEDSAS’ Deputy CEO, Dr. Jaco Deacon, has received the World Education Congress’ highest honour for leadership in education for a second time. Deacon received the award at the WEC’s 19th annual conference in India earlier this month. An international panel of education experts determines the winners for excellence in education leadership and teaching. This year representatives from 32 countries attended the conference.
“Jaco personifies excellence in education leadership. Not only is he an expert in the field of education law and governance, but his passion, insight and vision for education means he is the type of leader that South African education needs today,” says Mr. Paul Colditz, CEO of FEDSAS.
“For me, the award means that FEDSAS’ work is recognized internationally. Not only was it a privilege to represent FEDSAS but I am also very proud to be a representative of an organization that plays such a leading role and has such a significant impact on especially education leadership,” says Deacon.
This year’s WEC conference had a strong focus on the impact of the fourth industrial revolution, especially on developing countries, the skills required for the 21st century as well as the use of technology. “Exposure to education leaders from so many countries allows FEDSAS to benchmark itself against the best in the world. At the same time, it is encouraging to see that many countries are facing similar challenges. This enables us to exchange solutions and to continue to raise the standard of education management.”
