Requirements:
• Minimum REQV 13 relevant qualification
• Relevant Foundation phase qualification and experience
• Registered with SACE
• LOLT: English and Afrikaans
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:
(i) TEACHING
• To engage in class teaching, DCAPS, taking the barriers to learning of every learner into account. Provide appropriate levels of guidance, when you plan, assess and support learners and the class assistant.
• To take on a leadership role in the classroom, daily management of a class assistant, as part of your support to all learners.
• Create an environment that contains special features that provides visually explicit support, guide learners and prepare learners to adapt to change.
• Implement behavior intervention strategies to promote healthy social interaction between learners and adults. Having a procedure for how to deal with challenging behavior.
• Teach learners to communicate messages in a socially appropriate way., e.g. using words, symbols, or gestures. Implementing AAC with the support and assistance of the speech therapist.
(ii) EXTRA- & CO-CURRICULAR:
• To cater to the educational and general welfare of all learners in your care. Bi-annually individual parent meetings.
• To share in the responsibilities of organizing and conducting extra and co-curricular activities, including fundraising and parent support groups.
(iii) COMMUNICATION:
• To co-operate with colleagues of all grades in order to maintain a good teaching standard and progress among learners and to foster administrative efficiency within the school.
• To meet parents and discuss with them the conduct and progress of their children. Build a relationship with parents to be a resource person in the development of their child and to implement intervention strategies at home.
